In AP Lang, the hardest thing is rhetorical analysis because you’re reading a speech and they want you to explain how the author persuades people. Students mess up because they summarize instead of analyzing. The solution is to focus on strategies like repetition, emotional language, statistics, and tone. Like if a speaker repeats “we will,” that’s repetition used to build confidence and unity. The answer is explaining the effect, not just pointing out the device. The trick is always writing “this shows…” or “this creates…” after every piece of evidence.

In AP Biology, the most confusing thing is honestly cell respiration vs photosynthesis, because teachers act like it’s easy but there’s too many steps and weird molecules. Like you’ll see “glycolysis,” “Krebs cycle,” “ETC,” and you’re like okay so where does the energy actually come from?? The solution is remembering the big idea: glycolysis makes a little ATP, Krebs cycle loads up electron carriers, and the electron transport chain is where most ATP gets made. If they ask what produces the most ATP, the answer is always the electron transport chain. And if they ask where glycolysis happens, it’s cytoplasm. The main trick is thinking of NADH and FADH2 as “energy delivery trucks” that bring electrons to the ETC.

Geometry is where students start getting mad because triangle congruence proofs feel like straight memorization. Like they’ll say “prove these triangles are congruent” and you’re just sitting there like okay… how? The hardest part is picking the right rule like SSS, SAS, ASA, etc. But honestly if they give you two sides and the angle between them, that’s SAS, and you’re done. The solution is just learning what the letters stand for so you don’t overthink it.
